John Anthony Mroz, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2015 at the Springs Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy.
John was born May 1, 1931, in Watervliet, NY, the son of the late John A. and Stella Mroz.
He apprenticed with Dahl's Pharmacy on 19th street, Watervliet; he graduated Watervliet High School in 1951. He worked for the Local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local union 724 and 236. He received a 55 year recognition in 2007 from Local Union 236. The highlight of his career was working with the 1981 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid and the Berkshire Spur Bridge in Mass.
John loved history, he enjoyed traveling, and spending time in the outdoors.
He was a member of the NRA.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his infant brother Theodore "Teddy" and his sister Joan Glynn.
John is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Rita (Kristof) Mroz, his children, Nancy Mroz, Michael (Mary Ann) Mroz and Mark (Michelle) Mroz. He is the grandfather of, Kristi Polsun, Tina Berlin, Brandon Mroz, Nicholas Mroz, Anthony Mroz. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph and Hunter; and Rambo the cat. He is the brother of Elaine (Daniel) Manderville, Marion (Mike) Alaxanian and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 12:30 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Intermet will follow the service in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
