Robert L. Frye

Robert L. Frye, 88, of Albany NY, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Janet Frye, his daughter, Cynthia Frye, daughter-in-law, Gail Frye, and three grandchildren, Adam, Alexandra, and Rachel. He is also survived by two of his siblings; Lois Leahy, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Dean Frye, of Corinth, New York. Born in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, Bob moved to Albany in 1936, where he met Janet and eventually raised a family. Bob Frye joined the United States Navy during World War II, and worked as a Motor Machinist Mate on a destroyer. His many tales of his times during the war have entertained his family, repeatedly, for decades. Using the skills that he learned while in the Navy, he spent most of his career working for Simplex, both in installation and sales.

Bob was a very selfless and giving man, devoting much of his time to helping those in need at his place of worship, Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was always the go-to handyman whenever there was a problem, and even dedicated his Thursday mornings to helping run the FOCUS breakfast program, which helped to feed the needy. He was known for his silly sense of humor, and could always lighten the mood in any situation. His jokes and loving heart allowed him to make friends wherever he went, even if was just for a few minutes while sitting on a bench. He was very devoted to his family, and it showed through his stories of all the loving memories he had with them.

Although he will be very greatly missed by his loved ones, they know that Robert has joined his son, Mark R. Frye, who passed away unexpectedly at a young age. Bob and Mark enjoyed going hunting together and playing golf.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, on State Street in Albany, New York at 12pm on Sunday, June 21st. His burial will take place on Monday, June 22nd at Albany Rural Cemetery at 10am.
