ALBANY_Ruth H. Shannon, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015.

She was born June 21, 1924 in Albany, New York, the daughter of late Edward and Lydia (Beyer) Hanrahan.

Ruth lived in Albany her entire life. She married the late Alexander Shannon. Ruth was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Albany. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved making quilts, was a member of a local quilting club and she was proud of the quilts made and donated for babies in local hospitals. Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed books up until her final days.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Paul Shannon, James M. and his wife Pamela Shannon; her grandsons, Jeremy Shannon and Matt Vedder; her great-grandsons, Zane and Gavin Vedder; her brother, Edward Hanrahan Jr.

In addition to her parents and her husband Al, Ruth is predeceased by her sisters, Carol and Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church,20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203 on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00am. Burial will follow mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
