Colonie- Douglas Manley, 60, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. He was born on July 27, 1955 to the late Seth and Barbara Manley.
His family was the most important thing in his life. He had a special relationship with each of his three children, Jennifer, Kristin, and Drew; sparking and supporting their interests in skiing, cars, dogs, and go-kart racing. His grandson, James, was the light of his life. Doug adored his wife, Cathie, with whom he spent 38 years.
Doug was the owner of Manley's Autobody Rods and Customs in Schenectady which was his true passion. He was a master craftsman and fabricator of classic and custom cars. He spent many years restoring his own Mustangs and Shelbys.
Doug loved to ski with his family and friends every winter. He also loved outdoor activities including swimming, biking, rollerblading, and even working in the yard.
In addition to his parents, Doug is predeceased by his nephew, Ryan Manley and brother-in-law, Peter Rotchford.
Douglas is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Catherine Manley; his children, Jennifer (Bryon) Phelps, Kristin Manley, and Drew Manley; his grandson James Manley; his brother, David (Tracy) Manley; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, Colonie. A service will be held Friday at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Memory Gardens.
