Wayne Evans Van Pelt, age 71, died peacefully at his home in Albany, NY on July 5, 2016 with his loving bride of 52 years, Alice, by his side.
Wayne is survived by his wife Alice; children, Christopher and his wife, Jennifer, of Saratoga Springs, NY, and David and his wife, Alison, of Ballston Lake, NY; grandchildren, Emily, Katelyn, Alexander, Kamryn, and Kennedie; step-grandchildren, Cameron Eisenbarth and Alexandra Eisenbarth; and his siblings, Dale of Seattle, WA and Jean of New York, NY.
Wayne was born on September 15, 1944 in Delmar, NY. He graduated from SUNY Albany and enjoyed a long and distinguished career in computer operations. He spent most of his career at General Electric Research and Development Center in Niskayuna, NY.
Wayne was beloved by his family and many friends made in NY and Florida where they had a second home. He was active with Alice on the golf course, ski slopes, bowling alleys, and especially swimming, playing, and interacting with his grandchildren as much as possible. Wayne volunteered at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, NY for 11 years.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany. A funeral service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home. A reception celebrating Wayne's life will be held at Wayne and Alice's home following the service.
