Frank J. Delardi

August 15, 1939 — August 29, 2016

The heavens have accepted the spirit of the beloved Frank J. Delardi. His purpose on this earth to live fully, to care for, and love those around him has been fulfilled.

On Monday, August 29, 2016 Frank J. Delardi peacefully passed away with his beloved wife Terry by his side. Having just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, their well known devotion to one another was inspirational.

Frank was born on August 15, 1939 in Bronx, NY to Frank P. Delardi, a tradesman and later private motelier, and Catherine M. (Gianassi). He and his only sibling, Marilyn A. (Delardi) Glencross shared a lifelong bond as best friends. His parents and his sister predeceased him.

Frank attended Syracuse University majored in Marketing while also participating in ROTC. He then served his country in the United States Army at Forts Lee, Bragg and Dix. As a lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps, he had responsibilities at the Post Exchange (PX) and was recognized for his organizational excellence and people skills. It was there he met his beautiful bride, Theresa (Terry) Smith. On August 6, 1966 Frank and Terry were married.

In his initial civilian career, Frank was Head Buyer of womans' accessories for Allied Federated (Jordan Marsh department store). Frank's creativity, eye for elegance, fashion, and his buying expertise, had him traveling the world in search of unique products for the Jordan Marsh chain.

While raising their two young sons, Frank and Terry decided to dedicate more of Frank's time with family and they moved back to his hometown in the Capital Region. His special love of the Capital Region aligned with his decision to embark on a career in Real Estate. In addition, following in the footsteps of his parents, he purchased and operated the Blue-Stone Motel in Schodack.

Frank was a realtor for 38 years, specializing in Rensselaer County, and served thousands of individuals. He consistently achieved the mark of a Multi-Million Dollar producer and was awarded Rensselaer County Realtor of the Year. He thoroughly enjoyed working with people to achieve their dreams. He went beyond business itself and helped in personal ways. He became a trusted confidant, a special uncle, an adopted son, or just a needed friend. He built his business with repeat clients and personal referrals. He proudly served many families throughout generations as they trusted his guidance and judgment. Amongst his peers he was known for his honesty and integrity.

His ultimate passion in life was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, niece, nephews and their families were his priority. Time together was filled with love, laughter, Italian family traditions, celebrations, and remarkable meals. He loved the outdoors, natural beauty, being active, and travel. He particularly enjoyed flowers, gardening, the beach, skiing, music and gliding across the dance floor with his lovely wife. His adventurous spirit drew him to hang gliding with his son and frequent travel in the US, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, Mexico and South America.

Frank is survived by his wife Terry, sons Craig (Brigid Malcom) and Derek, four beautiful granddaughters, Morgan, Nia, Jordan and Keira, niece Colette Glencross (Ray Andrews), nephews Mark Glencross (Cyndi Prince) and Anthony Smith, and great-nephew Scott Glencross.

Frank will be remembered at a mass on September 17, 2016 at 4:30PM. All are welcome to attend at St. Michael The Archangel Parish, 175 Williams Road, Troy, NY. He will be interred at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a private family ceremony.

In keeping with his caring spirit, memorial donations to The Community Hospice (communityhospice.org) are suggested so other families may also receive the important support they provided to Frank.

Frank and his family wish to express their deepest thanks to the many friends who were part of his life and enriched his days.
