Albany- Vincent Baumbaca "Jimmy", 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2016 with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Domenico Bumbaca and Giovanna (Cavaleri) Bumbaca. Vincent is also predeceased by his wife Mary (Lombardo) Baumbaca, his son Charles Barthe, and his sisters, Maria Ricupero, Pina Bruzzeze, Angelina Bumbaca and Francesca Lacopo.
Vincent was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy and immigrated to Albany, New York at the age of 17. He served in World War II with the United States Army and was stationed in Africa. Upon his return to the U.S., Vincent was reunited with the love of his life and future wife Mary Lombardo. Vincent was the head chef at Lombardo's Restaurant until the age of 74. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His sense of humor and love for life was enjoyed by all that loved and knew him. Vincent enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching Yankee games, gardening and taking walks.
Vincent is survived by his grandchildren, Anne (Mark) Fitzgerald, Charles (Joyce) Barthe, Susan Barthe-Miller, daughter-in-law, Carol Barthe and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in the Ricupero, Lombardo, and Maxwell families. He is also survived by his cousins in the Cavaleri family, as well as his brother-in-law Charles "Bill" Lombardo and sister-in-law Angie Lombardo.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Parish of Mater Christi Church, 40 Hopewell Drive, Albany, NY 12208. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 9:30am. Interment will follow mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
