Anne Marie Zanotta, 90 years old, passed away peacefully with family by her side on the afternoon of Monday, October 3, 2016. Anne graduated with Honors in June, 1944 from the Academy of Holy Names and went on to graduate from Albany Business College. She worked for many years at the historic Bella Napoli Restaurant.
Anne had a long and prosperous career at the State Department for over 48 years. She held Senior Administrator positions working in the Office of the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation and got to participate in the revival of downtown Albany when the Empire Plaza was built.
Anne was so loved by her family, friends and community. Anne has a 62-year incredible marriage to her soul mate, Aldo P. Zanotta. Aldo and Anne were the first residents of Avila Retirement Community where Anne has lived for the past 12 years. She was a long time member of the Italian American Community Center and played cards there until she could no longer. Anne was a parishioner of Christ the King Church.
Anne will be greatly missed by her family and friends as they mourn her death and celebrate her life. Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved life and family. Anne cherished the holidays and special occasions especially Christmas. She loved cooking Italian meals, playing poker and was an avid horse fan following thoroughbred racing throughout the country and had season tickets to Saratoga. She shared with her family and friends making August a truly special month. Anne learned that football on Sundays was yet another reason for family members to gather and she quickly became a knowledgeable and passionate football fan. She always made time for family members and loved ones with a keen sense of values and an uncanny ability to offer wise advice.
The family wants to thank our awesome private health aides and home hospice from St. Peters Hospital's for the love, kindness and wonderful care of our beloved mother. We also want to thank the Avila Retirement Community where Mom chose to live the last days of her life.
