ALBANY- Michael Futia, 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
Mike was born on October 23, 1932 in Siderno (Reggio Calabria), Italy. Son of the late Francesco and Francesca Futia.
He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.. He prided himself in taking care of his family, maintaining his home and sharing his homemade wine and sausage with others.
Mike retired from the Local 190 Laborer's Union. He was a member of the WAIBS, where he enjoyed spending his Tuesday evenings socializing and playing Bocci. His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, playing cards, gardening but his most cherished times were those spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose (Speziale) Futia; sons, Michael F. Futia (Pam), Frank Futia, Thomas Futia (Christine), James Futia, Dan Futia (Diana); grandchildren, Nicole Futia, Francesca Futia, Frank Richard Futia, Christopher Futia, Gina Forst (Jake), James Futia, Jr., Allison Futia and Brittany Futia; great-grandchildren, Alex, Mackenzie, Michael and Madison; twin sister, Mona Coluccio and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mike was predeceased by his son, Richard "Ricky" Futia; siblings, Maria Lizzi (Francesco), Joseph Futia (Mary), Salvatore Futia (Filomena), Dominick Futia (Rose), brother-in-law, Louis Coluccio.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 4-7pm at New Comer Funerals and Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A funeral service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10am at New Comer Funerals & Cremations. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
