Albany~
Lisa Burton-Jewell, 55, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home after her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Born in 1962, she was the daughter of the late Frank Burton and Shirley (Moran) Burton. She graduated from Shaker High School in 1980 and began her 38-year career at the New York State Insurance Fund, retiring June 30, 2017. She was a member of the Stanford Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 23 years and a catechist for St. Clare's Church for the past 11 years. She was also involved with the Colonie girls' recreation softball league and South Colonie High school girls' Volleyball.
She is survived by her three daughters, Chelsea, Jenna and Shelby Jewell (their father David Jewell) and granddaughter Kylie. Her fiancé Steve Eppelmann and his children Becky (Kirby) Haizmann, Cara and Gage Eppelmann. She is also survived by her sister Dawn (Dave) Hildenbrandt and niece Shannon and also several aunts, uncles and cousins. We can't forget her beloved cats, Daphne, Penny, Franklin and Molly.
A visitation will be will be held on Friday September 1st from 9:00am to 11:00am at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the mass at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Albany Hospice for the excellent care and support that they supplied Lisa and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Albany Hospice, Happy Cats Rescue or Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
