John A. Lawyer

Schenectady- John A. Lawyer, 51, passed away unexpectedly at Ellis Hospital on September 29, 2017. Born on September 16, 1966 in Cobleskill, NY, he was the son of Patricia (Stevens) Schumaker and the late John Lawyer. John graduated from Schoharie High School and it was around that time that he discovered his love for bowling. This love carried into his career, working for several local bowling alleys for over 20 years. He most recently had taken a job with Kings Bowl and was planning to move to Florida to start his new position. When John was not bowling he was rooting for his beloved Boston Red Sox and the New Orleans Saints. John was involved in Rotterdam Little League for many years, coaching his children's teams. John was a caring and selfless person, who would do anything for those he loved.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his fiancée Theresa Giaquinto; his children: Timothy Hallenbeck, Aaron Hallenbeck, Nathan Lawyer, Destiny Lawyer and their mother Marcia (Jim Steinbach)Lawyer; his step-father Ralph Schumaker; his siblings: Melissa (Mark) DuBois and Christopher (Dora) Lawyer; he is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed by his canine companion, Jeter.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, October 2 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
