Colonie----Thomas Robert McTague, 73, passed away surrounded by his family March 10, 2018.
Tom was born in Albany on March 5, 1945; he was the beloved son of Thomas Allen (Joyce Ann) McTague. He was predeceased by his mother Virginia Keane. Tom was the loving husband and best friend of Marleen (Bargher) McTague of 39 years. In addition to his beloved wife, Tom is survived by his loving children, Shannon (Andrew) Turner of Oneonta, Laura (Andrew) Speranzi of Nassau, Sean and Brian McTague of Cohoes. Tom is also survived by his sister Lorraine (John) Jennings of Narragansett, RI. He is survived by his Aunt Barbara Shea, many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. Tom loved and enjoyed his two grand dogs, Bell and Coco.
Tom was a graduate of Albany High School and attended SUNY Cobleskill. Tom was a veteran of the Army National Guard and served six years. He was employed for 35 years for the NYS ORPS as a Sr. Computer Operator, retiring in 2001. Most recently Tom worked as a swap driver for Nemer Volkswagen of Latham. Tom enjoyed riding motorcycles and most recently his Spyder. He and his wife were avid campers in the Lake George region. While camping with friends, Tom was best known as the AD (Activity Director). Tom always had a good story for people. Tom spent many springs coaching his daughters' softball teams and watching his sons' play baseball. Also, Tom enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at New Comer Funeral Home in Watervliet at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday March 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend thanks to Carlene, Mary, Jan, Aqilah, Odette, Ruth, Dr. Motta and Jordan for their professional care they provided Tom.
