Loudonville- Anthony W. Polito, 81, passed away on March 11, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 5, 1937 in Albany, a son of the late Angelo and Theresa Armando Polito. Anthony was a graduate of the Cathedral Academy and a proud Marine Veteran. He worked as a laborer for the local labor union, 190.
Anthony was a devoted Catholic, serving as an altar boy when he was younger to always making sure no matter where he was that he always attended Sunday Masses. He loved to garden, play bocce and was an avid Giants football fan. Most of all, Anthony was a devoted family man, who loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. Anthony will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Anthony is survived by his loving family, his wife, Joyce Greene Polito; daughters, Alene Polito-Whipple, Naomi Polito, Theresa McCue and Robin Gibson; son, Robert Polito; sisters, Marlene Watkins and Carol Smith; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Anthony was predeceased by his sisters, Julia Saleh and Rosemary Audi; brothers, Vincent Polito and Angelo Polito, Jr.
Calling hours for Anthony will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4pm until 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, 12205. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 8:15am at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial following at 9:30am at The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 125 Eagle Street, Albany, 12202. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Albany.
