NISKAYUNA-George H. Lindsay, 87, passed away on May XX, 2018.
He was born on April 1, 1931 son of the late Sheldon and Adaline (Bemis) Lindsay in Hudson Falls, NY.
He was raised in Dannamora until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1948. He was stationed in Key West for 4 years. After he was discharged he moved to Schenectady, NY and began working at The Alco where he met his wife Margaret Cognetti. They married on January 3, 1954.
Throughout his professional career he was a Correctional Officer in Coxsackie, NY. He then worked for the Grandview Block Company in Schenectady. He then worked for the Town of Niskayuna as a water treatment plant operator until his retirement.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He always cherished attending his grandchildren's events. George was always eager to participate in their functions in any way he could. His hobbies included trout fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret and his 3 brothers John, Bob and Paul.
He is survived by his daugher, Susan Ottaviano (David) of Niskayuna and her children David Ottaviano of St. Petersburg, FL. and Erica Ottaviano also of Niskayuna; his daughter, Patricia Hills (Alan) of Saratoga and her children, Lindsay Sikora of Saratoga, James Sikora of Rotterdam and Mackenzie Sikora of Scotia and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate George's life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:30am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:30am. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
