Guilderland~
Susan H. Phillips, 81, of Guilderland, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 following a brief illness with her loving family by her side. Born in Metuchen, NJ on December 28, 1936 Susan was the daughter of the late Melvin James Hollenbeck and Gladys Louise (Vorce) Hollenbeck. She was the devoted wife of the late Earnest George Phillips, together they were married 49 years until his passing in 2005.
Beloved mother of Cynthia (Chad) Sendzik, Judith Holmes, Wayne A. (Rebecca) Phillips, Scott C. (Jessica) Phillips and the late Scott R. and Kevin W. Phillips.
Cherished grandmother of Tia Sendzik, Chelsea Hamer (Matthew), Joshua Clark, Sarah Phillips, Mason Phillips, Spencer Phillips and Hunter Phillips.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Susan was predeceased by her husband Earnest Phillips, her son Scott Raymond Phillips, her son and daughter-in-law Kevin (Kim) Phillips and her grandson Cody James Phillips, her sister Barbara H. Taggart and brother-in-laws William F., Henry and Frederick Phillips.
Susan was a member of the Christ's Church Guilderland where she was actively involved.
She was also a former member of the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad for many years, which she was very proud of. She also held the title of first woman president of Western Turnpike.
Susan enjoyed spending time with her entire family, caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved volunteering at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center and going to the Guilderland YMCA. Camping was a favorite get a way.
Relatives and friends may call 5:30-6 p.m. on Wednesday June 6th at Christ's Church Guilderland, 4 Charles Blvd, Guilderland, NY 12084, where memorial services will begin at 6 p.m. in the church. A reception will follow from 6:30-7:30 p.m. that same evening. In honor of Sue's love for flip flops, please feel free to dress casual.
Interment will be private at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice, in memory of Susan H. Phillips.
