Frederick B. Valentine passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with Liver Cancer.

He was born on May 24, 1950 in Schenectady, the son of the late Benjamin and Philomena (Polsinelli) Valentine. He was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Paul the Apostle Church. He graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School in 1968 and Alliance College in Pennsylvania in 1970, where he also played football. After graduating he worked in the family construction business. With an unquenchable thirst for learning, he returned to college and attended the University of Florida and also worked as a Bridge Inspector for Miami-Dade County. He then attended SUNY IT in Utica where he earned his earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. In 1984, he enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve earning the E-4 Senior Airman Rank and traveled throughout Europe.

He was excited to put all of his education and experience to good use and formed F. Valentine Construction, where he developed a prefabricated system using art automation building technologies and computer aided design to build roof systems, walls, windows, door and floor panels as well as constructing residential, multi-residential and commercial dwellings and establishments.

Fred had an adventurous spirit and loved trying new things, where he was always the life of the party. He was currently taking culinary classes at SCCC. He enjoyed taking dance lessons and looked forward to social events where he could showcase his moves. He loved all sports and especially watching and attending his favorite NY Yankees games. But nothing gave him more pleasure than watching his grandchildren, nieces and nephew's sports games, music and dance recitals.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lisa (Leonard) Galasso, his grandchildren; Donald Prentiss, Anthony and Adriana Galasso; his siblings, Lucille (Antonio) Guzzardi, Michael (Carol) Valentine, Vincent (AnnaMarie) Valentine, Linda Brassard and Anthony (Jacqueline) Valentine; his nieces and nephews, Karen James, Michael Guzzardi, Michael Valentine, Philomena (Jeffrey) D'Alessandro, Ryan Valentine, Larry Brassard, Catherine (Fiance, Rich Porreca) Valentine, Antonia (Nicholas) Giuliano and Benjamin Valentine; his great nieces and nephew, Karly James, Zoe Guzzardi, and Jackson Giuliano; his friend and former brother-in-law, Larry Brassard; his aunt, Vincenza Polsinelli and many cousins with whom he shared so many wonderful childhood memories.

Relatives and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday July 2 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 3 at the funeral home. Interment following in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
