Mildred M. Futia, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2018 with her loving family by her side. A native of Kingston, NY, Mildred was the daughter of the late James and Lena (Gallo) Muiccio.
Mildred was an honors graduate of Kingston High School and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church, the former Holy Cross Church in Albany.
Mildred was employed by St. Peters Hospital and the College of St. Rose, from where Mildred retired.
Mildred loved to travel and held her trip to Italy as a lifelong dream.
Mildred is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James V. Futia and her grandson, Jerry J. Faine and her siblings; Joseph Muiccio, Rose Sottile, Frances LaBarbera, Mary Countryman and Carmella Manfredo.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Richard C. Carter) Mazza, of Albany and her son, Vincent A. (Cheryl) Futia, of Guilderland. Mildred was the beloved "Nana" to Cody, Jesse, Kadi and DJ Futia, of Guilderland and Rick Jr. of Lafayette, LA, Paul of Leoma, TN, Taylor (Aaron) Boyd of Leoma, TN. and Carrigan Carter of Albany. She is also survived by her great granddaughter, Alexis Badgett of Buffalo, NY and her siblings, Ann (Manu) Malkani, of Queensbury, NY and Tony (Martha) Muiccio, of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Community Hospice and dear family friend Michele Montesano.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 9:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead Street (behind CVS), Albany, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105in Mildred's memory.
