Iona Rose Belton-Payne

MENANDS- Iona "Rose" Belton, age 80, passed away on November 16, 2018. She was born on April 27, 1938 in Pittsfield, MA to the late James Belton and Florence Coleman-Belton.

Iona is a graduate of Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, MA and attended Schenectady County Community College in Schenectady, New York.

While living in Pittsfield, MA, Iona worked at Hillcrest Hospital before moving to Albany, New York. Iona worked for 32 years for the State of New York Commerce Department before retiring in 1998.

Iona enjoyed tennis, bowling, traveling and being a social butterfly. She also taught many of us how to deal with life's situations with a grain of salt and a glass of wine.

She was predeceased by her husbands: Albert Payne, Fred Benson and Shellie Spencer.

Iona leaves behind two daughters: Leslie Payne and Lynette Medina, both of Albany, New York. She also leaves two sons: Camron Payne and Albert Payne. Iona was blessed to have many grandchildren, even more great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 11 to 12 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY. A sharing of memories will start at 12 Noon.
