Josephine A. Christopher

Our loving mother, grandmother, and "great momma", Josephine "Josie" Christopher passed away on March 31, 2020 at her residence, Peregrine Senior Living of Colonie. Josie was the wife of the late Robert "Bobby" Christopher and youngest daughter of the late Dominick and Jennie Ercole. Born and raised in Niskayuna, NY, Josie remained in the area her entire life. She and Bobby wed in November of 1953 and raised their three daughters in Colonie, NY. Josie always put her family first as she remained a stay-at-home mother and homemaker.

In addition to her husband Bobby, Josie was predeceased by her daughter Joanne, her grandson Jeffrey Michael, as well as her sister Mary Kotarski, and her brother Anthony Ercole.

Josie is survived by her daughters Joyce Christopher and Mary Ann VanBlarcom; her sister Anna Leffler; grandchildren Kelly Johnson (Todd); Joshua (Rachel), Sean, and Gregory (Val) Gilbert; and Christopher VanBlarcom (Amanda). She is also survived by three great grandsons – Cameron, Eli and Brandon Gilbert; and, her great granddaughter and namesake, Josephine "Josie" Johnson; along with a nephew and several nieces.

The family is very appreciative to the staff at Peregrine Senior Living of Colonie for the care and kindness that was provided to Josie over the past few years; and the recent assistance provided by Community Hospice of Albany. Contributions in Josie's memory may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast NY, Autism Speaks Foundation, or to a charity of your choosing.

Due to the current health crisis, there will be no public services at this time.
