Robert Charles King

May 7, 1959 — March 20, 2021

Robert Charles "Bob" King, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Born May 7, 1959, Bob was the son of Gerald and the late Annette King.

Bob was raised in Wallingford, CT and graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School in 1977. He worked most of his professional life in the industry of HVAC and facilities maintenance. At the time of his passing, Bob was the boiler technician at Bethlehem Central School District and he really enjoyed working day-to-day with the other guys in the maintenance department. He lived portions of his adult life across the Northeastern states of Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, and New York, moving several times for work, family, and love of the land.

Bob enjoyed travelling and spending time with his entire family and friends. He loved cooking for his family and friends, which they in turn loved back. He was a self-taught chef with a free-form, "wing it" sort of style. His clam chowder, slow-cooked sausage, steak and chicken parmesan were common requests. Bob was an avid fan of rock music, and never seemed to struggle to keep up with the times as rock music changed over the ages – often choosing to play whatever the newest heavy metal band was at the time (which the rest of us had never heard of) when it was his turn to pick the music. He was a self-taught guitar player from a young age, and often played with friends and neighbors, as well as his brothers and anyone else skilled or brave enough to pick up an instrument or microphone at a family gathering. Bob was also a fan and collector of movies. Thankfully, his collection went digital about as early as possible – Bob was always ahead of the curve when it came to new technology and gadgets. Having the newest gizmo was a defining characteristic of Bob in more recent years… getting something new when he grew bored of yesterday's thing, or replacing it as soon as something better came out – as if it was never an option. His other hobbies included buying pointless stuff on Amazon, driving fast, and watching bad TV shows because he had "already seen everything else."

Bob is survived by his son, Dan King; his daughters, Ashley Kozlovich-King and Elizabeth King; his grandchildren, Maiya Kozlovich and Kate Halloran. His father Gerry, three brothers Kenny, Joel and Tom, as well as their children also survive him and will cherish his memory.

Though there will be no in-person service for Bob, his children will be planning a trip or series of trips to honor his life and lay his ashes to rest. They hope to be able to open the trip(s) to others, and to share the experience via video recording or livestream when the time comes. More information will be made available to Bob's loved ones as plans are developed and finalized.

Donations may be made in Bob's memory to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers or gifts.
