Barbara Crawford

Niskayuna - Barbara Crawford, 77 departed this life on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in the comfort of her home after a courageous battle with health issues.

Barbara was born on August 20, 1943 to the late Bessie Williams Hilton-Dorsey and Alfred Totten in Albany, NY. She was educated in the Albany school system graduating from Cardinal McClusky High School. Throughout her life she held various jobs, her most fulfilling was when she worked at Maywood and other schools where she enjoyed interacting with children and young adults.

Barbara was the devoted wife to James "Jimmy" Crawford for 58 years. She was family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, reading, shopping, watching Lifetime movies and always keeping her home in tip top shape. Barbara was a faithful member of Shrine Church Of Our Lady Of The Americans where she served as a Eucharist Minister.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James "Jimmy" Crawford; her children, Rev. Debra Poole, Robert Williams (Johniesse), Leesa Crawford-Young (Tyrone), Crystal Crawford- Doyle (Scott), and Jamie Crawford-Gentile (Paul); eleven grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her devoted sister, Bess Williams and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; sister, Jeanie Totten; brother, Robert Williams, mother and father-in-law, Lula and Jake Crawford; sister-in-law, Nina Nicholson and son-in law Curtis L. Poole.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 p.m.
