Schenectady-Devin P. McGlothan, 29, was called home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Devin was born on June 5, 1991 in Schenectady N.Y. and is the son of Gabbrielle Lewis and Ronny McGlothan.
When Devin was a child some of his favorite things were hanging out with his Grandparents; Papa (Paul Woodard) and Grandma (Delores), his two Aunts, Anita, who gave him the nickname BAM and Elaine, who he called YanYan These very special people are no longer with us but they were instrumental in molding Devin into the special person that he was. We are sure they are all embracing him in heavenly glory today.
Devin attended Schenectady High school where he enrolled into the Culinary Arts BOCES program and graduated in 2009. His passion for food lead him to further his education and perfect his culinary skills at Schenectady Community College.
Devin loved to spend time with his family, especially his two loving children, Nalay and Zalon. One of the many special things they enjoyed doing were our family camping trips.
Dev also had a many close friends that he considered family Darius, Lamech, Jvon, and Dylan, just to name a few, there are many others. Those who knew Devin, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. You always knew when he walked into a room because he had the ability to spread contagious laughter with his overwhelming sense of humor.
Devin is survived by his parents; Gabbrielle Lewis (Tony) of Schenectady and Ronny McGlothan (Sylvia) of Indiana, his sisters; Sissy - Ronelle McGlothan, Veronka Wells-McGlothan, Tyramis Ellis, Mariah Batista, Step-Sister; Shanell Bonds, Brothers; Kris McGlothan (Jessica), William K. McGlothan, De'Angelo R. McGlothan, Step-Brothers; Jerelle Bond and John Dockery, his paternal grandmother; Bessie Purnell, who resides in Boston, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Devin had a host of many close friends that will also miss him dearly.
Devin is predeceased by his paternal grandfather; Walter McGlothan.
Devin's celebration of life will be handled by New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Colonie N.Y. Calling hours will be Friday, June 11th, from 12-1pm with a service starting at 1pm.
