Cropseyville- Helen J. O'Donnell, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Porter. Helen was the devoted wife to David J. O'Donnell. They were married 32 years.
After graduating from high school, Helen became a truly compassionate and hard working registered nurse for many years. Helen prided herself in the care she gave to her patients, always finding a way to touch their hearts.
Helen was a proud member of the Daughters of The American Revolution.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her entire family while her beloved husband cooked all their favorite meals. She had a fond love for camping and crafts. Helen was an avid traveler. She was a dedicated member of All Saints church, where she spent her time volunteering.
In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by her children, Theresa (Darren) Cooke, Michael (Becky) Woods, David O'Donnell, Kelly Menia and Colleen (Bob) Bashaw; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Lois) Porter; her beloved dog, Dixie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Helen is predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Hannah.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Sunday February 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday February 7, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's cemetery, 79 Brunswick Rd, Troy, NY 12180.
A celebration of life will take place on may 15th, more information to follow.
