Nicholas D. Matera

August 30, 1925 — April 2, 2022

Nicholas D. Matera, 96, of East Greenbush, passed away on April 2, 2022 at Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation and Nursing.

He was born in Albany on August 30, 1925 to the late Donato and Catherine (DeLorenzo) Matera.

Nicholas was a life long resident of the Capital Region, he retired as a Manager for Dandy Laundry in Troy after 25 years. He loved to cook, and enjoyed bird watching. He and Arlene loved to take bus trips to the Casino. Nicholas was a man of faith, always telling his children, "I love you and God loves you too".

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Lena Layaou, Angela Vitetta, and brother Daniel Matera.

Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Arlene Matera, children Eileen Coyle (Bruce), Christine Little (Robert), Nicholas Matera Jr., Sharon Cunningham (Marc), Daniel Matera (Lisa), Tracey Katsoudas (James), grandchildren Nicole Coyle, Bruce Coyle Jr., Jesse Little, Megan Rose (Doug), Kelly Ferris (William), Renee Demers (Matt), Daniel Matera, Brenna Katsoudas, Zoe Katsoudas and Krista Katsoudas, great grandchildren Braeden Rose, Weston Rose, Moxley Ferris, Colette Demers, Sophie Demers.


Visitation will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie, New York.

A Mass will be held on Friday, April 8, at 10am at the Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive Loudonville, New York.

Interment to follow in the Our Lady of Angels Cemetery .
