WILFREDO (FRED) VEGA, 69, December 1, 2022, peacefully passed away at his home in Guilderland, NY. He was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on May 15, 1953, and grew up in the Bronx, NY with his mother, Virginia (deceased) and stepfather, Angel Ocasio. He was a medic in the Army and furthered his medical career in civilian life as a sonographer. His last position was at Greenwich Radiology in Greenwich, CT. He retired in 2020 and moved to Guilderland, NY with his wife, Julia (Humphrey - Boehm). Fred is also survived by four brothers, Roberto, Angel, Rick and Danny; his daughter, Jessica; his stepson, Nathan (Sara) Boehm; his grandchildren, Ava, Sergio and Caroline; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fred loved life, and in turn was loved by all for his kind heart and wicked sense of humor. He loved God, his family and friends. He had an explorer's heart, loved the outdoors and enjoyed biking and hiking as often as possible. He was also a Mets fan, which almost turned out well this year. He was a quarterback for the football team at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, so he loves the game, but the Giants have made it hard for him to root for them in the past couple of years…
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 10:00-12:00 pm, followed by a service at 12:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. A graveside service will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at 2:30 pm.
