Albany-George W. Allen, Sr was born on July 19, 1923 in Opelika, AL to late Lewis and Mazell Allen.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he lived in Florida for a short period of time and moved to Albany, NY to work and made it his home. He loved to garden, exercise, watch TV news channels as well as tell interesting historical stories of his experiences, adventures, and travel.
George will be remembered as a civil rights activist for the local brick mason union and participation in the Civil Rights Movement during the early 60's.
