Brian D. Barrett

Brian Darnell Barrett 58, of Albany, NY, entered into God's Kingdom on June 9th, 2023.

Brian aka "B-Love" was born on a Sunday morning September 13, 1964, in South Hampton Long Island, New York to Brenda and Ronald Barrett. After moving to Albany NY in December of 1966, he was educated in the Albany School District where he earned his High School Diploma in June of 1982. By then he had already started his career of over 20 years as a cook working at Barbeque Billie's. Brian worked as a cook for many different places throughout the capital district. Brian loved to be at the stove or over a hot grill. He would try to feed the whole neighborhood. He loved to tell jokes and he always had a story to tell. Most of the time he even changed the events to make the story a little more exciting, especially after a few cold ones (Budweiser that is!!). Brian loved music and would always have a stereo blasting old school it was his favorite. Brian was the fastest sloth foot runner that his friends and local Albany police had ever seen. He loved children especially his own. Brian was the oldest of five children.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter Zaniya Barrett, mother Brenda J. Barrett, sister Stephanie (Ismael) Barrett, and brothers Shawn Barrett and Gerard Barrett. His nephews Jamelle Barrett, Jahceed Barrett, Zarmeir Barrett, Raion Barrett, Jai-Ream Daniels, Ja'Quan Daniels, Ismael DeJesus II, nieces Terea Barrett, Fazeena Barrett, and I'viana DeJesus. His great nieces Jakira Berrett, Jahmira Barrett, Imperial Davis, Iyanna Davis and Q'Mari Daniels, great nephews Jawaun Daniels and Yur'Hyness Barnes. His beloved bonus children Shawn, Vance, Mandy, Nate and Terence. Bonus Nephews Jahad Barnes, JaWaun Daniels and Naqwaun Daniels. His Aunt Christina Walker of Virginia Beach, VA, and Aunts Odessa Brown, Sherry Morris, Karen Walley, Terry Lewis, Kim Morman, Uncle Donald Barrett of Dallas, GA, and a special sister in love Demetris Fullard. He also leaves a host of cousins, family and friends.

Brian was predeceased by his father Ronald D. Barrett, his brother Terence Barrett, his maternal grandparents Selena and James Claire, paternal grandparents Helen Jimpson and Archie Lewis, his aunts Lorrianne Newsome and Patricia Barrett, his uncles Oliver Dobbs, Mark Lewis and Derrick Lewis, his niece Ishanie DeJesus, his nephew Lamel Barrett and his cousin Derick Miles.

Friends and Family are invited to attend calling hours from 2:00pm- 3:00pm with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 3:00pm, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
