Gerald A. "Jerry" Moroskey, aged 73 of Latham, NY passed away suddenly at his home on July 6, 2023, doing what he loved after mowing the lawn, sitting at his picnic table under the shade of his tree with his cup of ice water.
Jerry was born on May 3, 1950 to Amelia (Davis) and Michael Moroskey, Sr. in Albany, the 4th of 5 children in a blended family. After graduating from Columbia High School in East Greenbush in 1968 he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the VietNam War. He was employed by Winthrop Laboratories, BASF and retired from RPI as a plumber.
Jerry loved camping, taking long walks, riding his motorcycle, buying and restoring classic cars and attending car shows with his brother and best friend, Mickey. But more than anything, Jerry loved his family.
Jerry is survived by his children Beth (Phillip) Faranda and Philipp Moroskey. He leaves behind six cherished grandchildren, Kathleen (Michael) Faranda-Tuttle, Phillip Faranda, Jr., Jensie Faranda, Olivia Moroskey, Hailey Moroskey and Skylar Moroskey. "Jerry the Great" also leaves behind one beloved great-granddaughter Laura Tuttle. He is also survived by his brother Michael "Mickey" (MaryAnn) Moroskey, Jr. of Melrose NY and Sister Judy (Richard) Walker of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jerry also leaves behind two other very special people in his life, his ex-wife and good friend, Ruth Moroskey of Colonie, NY and his partner Maureen Nicholson of Rhinebeck NY.
Jerry was predeceased by both his parents, his brothers Richard Moroskey and Donald Miller.
Visitation will be on Thursday July 13, 2023 from 10am - 12pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189 with a brief service directly after. Interment will follow immediately after at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 303 Sand Creek Road, Albany NY 12205.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to either the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
