Shelton L. Bellamy, 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Shelton was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and was a longtime resident of Albany. He was a graduate of Albany High School, Fulton Montgomery Community College, and Lakehead University, where he played basketball for each institution. After college, Shelton came back to Albany where he gave back to the City by working as a well-respected Administrator for Albany High School, and then later holding a variety of other roles in the City until his retirement. In these roles, Shelton mentored many students and guided them in their choices towards a successful future.

Shelton was predeceased by his beloved mother Louise Bellamy, as well as his brothers Herbert Jr., Robert, Carlton, and sister Lynda Johnson.

Shelton is survived by his children Denise Bellamy, Karen Bellamy, and Shelton Bellamy, Jr. (Sarah Chambers); his most cherished grandson, DeMarco Bellamy; his devoted significant other Bernice Burke for the last 26 years; mother of his children and dear friend Wendy Bellamy; as well as many step children, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm with a funeral service to begin at 3:00 pm
