Ruth Elizabeth Devendorf Larson, a lifetime resident of Schenectady, passed away January 23rd, 2024. She spent her 102 years as a giver, daughter, friend, sister, aunt, mother, volunteer, grandmother and great grandmother.

Her life was filled with many caring deeds, wonderful memories and special times. She was at the Chicago World’s Fair and she attended Elmira College during WWII. Ruth worked for the NYS Dept of Health shortly before meeting her husband Roger E. Larson. They met at State Street Presbyterian Church, where she spent her life from a baby to great grandmother. Together they had five children.

Ruth loved music and mysteries. She enjoyed gardening, dark chocolate, crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends and her faith was an integral part of her life. She volunteered at many organizations and was an active member for years with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), 4-H, Cub Scouts, Elmira College Club, member of Phi Beta Kappa, Interfaith Community of Schenectady in addition to being an active member at church and a Deacon.

In addition to her husband Roger, she was predeceased by her children Margaret and Matthew.

She is survived by her daughter Susan and her daughter Lian (Santo) and their children Mason and Ruth, son Richard (Kathleen) and their children Elizabeth, Theresa (Brian) and their children Peyton, Scarlett, Harper, son Stephen and his daughter Angelina, Margaret's children Nicole Wright-Gilbo (Mark) and David Wright (Jennifer) and their children Savannah and Logan, special niece Carol Mead who was like a daughter as well as many other family members and friends that she loved and loved her.

She was the best example of what a good woman should be.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 31st from 1pm-2pm with a service to follow at 2pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY.
