Sara (Olsen) Maldonado, 34, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.

Sara was the beloved oldest daughter of Mark and Patricia Olsen. The devoted wife of over 7 years to Thomas Maldonado. The adoring mother of Callum and Mariella. And the compassionate older sister to Rebecca, Andrew, and Benjamin. She was predeceased by her grandparents, John and Mae Olsen and Robert and Patricia Watson.

Sara’s most joyful moments in life were spending time with her entire family, especially her two children Callum and Mariella. From local destinations to weekend getaways, and from Main Street USA to international trips, Sara thrived creating memories in places she loved.

She loved the magic of Disney. A place of joy, comfort, and where, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”. Disney became Sara’s second home. From enjoying mickey pretzels to Happily Ever After fireworks, and from spirit jerseys to dancing parade-side, Sara cherished the world that Walt built.

Sara was a dedicated kindergarten teacher who loved her calling. As a motivating teacher, Sara always saw the potential in every student. She was kind, caring, and creative; she was the teacher everyone wished to have.

For over two years, Sara fought an inspiring, courageous, and determined battle against breast cancer. Never complaining once, she heroically earned the title Badass Warrior Princess.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, New York on Tuesday July 2, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A funeral service will
follow the calling hours at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. It is encouraged to wear colorful attire in honor of her vibrant spirit. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sara's memory to the Callum and Mariella Maldonado Education Fund, at any Broadview Federal Credit Union or mailed to the Callum and Mariella Maldonado Education Fund, c/o Broadview Federal Credit Union, 4 Winners Circle, Albany, NY 12205.
