LOUDONVILLE – Charles W. Arthur, 87, lost his battle with cancer at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2009.
Charlie was born on April 6, 1922 in Enon, Ohio and was the son of the late Dell H. and Mabel L. (Beeson) Arthur. He spent most of his adult life in New York, a jack of all trades who found a rewarding career as a four color pressman. He retired from Crest Litho as Vice President in 1990. A natural athlete who enjoyed bowling and being the guy everyone wanted to beat! His retirement was spent traveling and surfing the net as the best student his grandson ever taught. His true calling was his role as husband, father, grandfather and friend with the ability to make everyone feel special. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Catherine (Heron) Arthur; his son, Tom and his wife Patty of Loudonville; his daughter, Barbara Arthur-Devlin of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his grandsons, Christopher and Patrick Arthur of Waltham, Mass., along with many nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Many thanks to his niece, Luella Buono and friends, Joe and Marge Golembieski, who offered endless support during his illness.
A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Chapel in Loudonville. Interment will follow at Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
