CLIFTON PARK – John W. Roth, 64, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Stratton VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on February 18, 1947 in Albany and was the son of the late Ernest J. and Helen (Tice) Roth. He served honorably in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked for Bellevue Builders in Rotterdam. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed bowling and camping.
John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Emma "Babe" Roth; his loving daughter, Sonja Roth (Ali Graves Sr.) of Schenectady; his loving son, John Roth (Trisha) of Schenectady; his cherished grandchildren, Ke'Shawna, Deandre, Shauna, Brianna and Ali Jr.; his cherished great-granddaughter, Tatianna Estella; his siblings, Barbara Rivers, Ronald Roth, Virginia Olsen, Judith Roth, Nancy Lee, and Mark Roth; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy (Sandy) Fowler, Ron Fowler (Karen), Jay Fowler (Marlette), and Wendy Conn (Ed). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Roth Jr.; his sister, Grace Roth and his mother and father-in-law, Roy and Stella Fowler.
A special thank you to all the hospice nurses on 9B, especially to Dr. Phillips, Linda, and Kelly for all their heartfelt compassion.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A committal service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Albany VA Hospital, Hospice Floor in John's memory.
