GUILDERLAND – Harold Frederick Truax passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 02, 1929 and was the son of the late Frank and Florence (Frisbee) Truax. Harold was raised in Knox, NY in the Helderberg Hilltowns. He married Joanna Guresz and together they raised three sons; Thomas, William and Richard in the Altamont/Guilderland area. Harold was a kind and humble man known for a friendly smile and his constant hard work. He always put his family first at all times and at any sacrifice. Harold was a talented craftsman who built his own home. He had many friends via restoring 1935/1936 Ford V-8's, at which he was also very talented. His family loved him and will miss him dearly and look forward to rejoining him in Heaven.
Harold is the beloved husband of sixty-three years to Joanna Truax. He is the devoted father of Thomas (Paula), Richard (Svea) Truax and the late William Truax. Harold is the cherished grandfather of Elle and Connor Truax. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. In addition to his parents and son, Harold was predeceased by his sisters, Kathryn Otten and Geraldine Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Gallupville Rural Cemetery, Gallupville, NY. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to St. Peter's ALS Regional Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Harold F. Truax.
