Albany – Veronica Svingala Richardson passed away on Monday March 17, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn after a short illness. Born on August 4, 1927, Veronica was predeceased by her husband, Frederick R. Richardson; her parents, George and Maria Svingala; and brothers, Joseph, John and Steven Svingala; and sisters Helen Milton, Mary Brightly, Margaret Brightly, and Ethel Dryer.
Roni is survived by her longtime companion, William Broyles; her daughters, Diane (John) Byrne of Edinburg, New York and Susan (Robert) Goewey of Colonie, New York; grandsons Ian and Andrew Byrne and Robert (B.J.) and Richard (Ricky) Ragone; and her sister Ann Farrere of Hillsdale, New York. "Aunt Vera" is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Roni was a devoted mother and grandmother, homemaker, seamstress and gardener at her home in Westmere. She was a lover of fine food, music and dance, nature and traveling, she lived life to the fullest.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Veronica on Thursday March 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave. Albany, NY 12203. Calling hours will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the church.
