COLONIE – Diane L. (Lyons) Monti, 73, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Diane was born on November 12, 1940 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Thelma A. (Swanson) Canova. She graduated from Albany High School in 1959 and worked in retail for 35 years. She cared for her family and friends during their life, sickness and death. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, casinos, bowling, but most especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society Women's Auxiliary for 20 years.
Diane is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Mario P. Monti; her children, Michael Monti Sr. (Heidi) of Albany, Lisa Kelsey (Michael) of Albany, Donna Donahue (Thomas) of Lynn, MA, and Debra Monti (Douglas Jensen) of Cohoes; her sister, Darline Geortz of Glenville and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff's at St. Peter's Women's Cancer Care Center and at The Hospice Inn for their great care given to Diane.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. There will be no service.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, One Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Diane.
