Albany- Adam J. Del Torto, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 29, 2021. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Graziano and Ernestine Del Torto.
He grew up in Albany where he attended Christian Brothers Academy. After graduating from CBA, he attended St. Michael's College in Vermont on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. Upon graduation, he entered full time service in the Air Force earning meritorious service medals and rising the ranks of Lt. Colonel. After a career spanning 24 years in the Air Force, Adam worked in Aerospace, Lockheed & Martin Marietta. During his tenure at Aerospace, Governor Mario Cuomo offered and Adam accepted a job as an inspector at the NYS Attorney General's Office becoming a member of Governor Cuomo's staff. After Cuomo's retirement, Adam went on to work as Director of Purchasing at Albany County. Adam was an avid hunter and fisherman and a loyal fan to the NY Giants and the Boston Red Sox. He also coached his three son's baseball teams leading them to back to back league championships.
Adam is survived by his wife Irene (Domenico) Del Torto and their three sons; Dr. Adam Del Torto, Jr. of Burbank, CA, Dr.
Michael Del Torto (Edna) of Kent Island, Maryland and Christopher Del Torto of Albany. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dr. Robert Del Torto of California and Emma Del Torto of West Virginia . He will also be missed by his great grandchildren, Michael Del Torto Jr., Angelo Del Torto, Elijah Del Torto and Gavin Del Torto.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Adam's name.
