Adelaide Johnson

Adelaide (Addie) Johnson, 92, passed away suddenly July 15, 2018. Born in Utica, Adelaide was the daughter of the late Hon. Mr & Mrs Matthew S. Ogonowski Sr. of Utica. She was the wife of the late Harvey Johnson and mother of the late Susan Siegel of East Greenbush. As a teenager, Adelaide worked as a lifeguard at the public pool in Utica before attending college. A 1948 graduate from Cornell University, she one of the first women to graduate from the Industrial Labor Relation School. While still raising her family, Adelaide combined her interest in reading and love of children, pursuing a career as a teacher's aide with the East Greenbush Central Schools until her retirement. Adelaide was an active parishioner of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Albany. During her time there, she served on the church's Vestry, volunteered at its thrift shop and participated in numerous committees. A kind, warm and welcoming person to all who knew her, she enjoyed every special moment with family and friends. Adelaide is survived by her children Christopher (Deborah) Johnson of East Greenbush, Scott (Deborah) Johnson of Rotterdam and son-in-law Harold Siegel of North Carolina. Adelaide is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher M. Johnson, Michael (Michelle) Johnson, Katherine Siegel, Mark (Christina) Siegel, Stacy (Michael) Bronson, Daniel Reil & Robin Haberman. Also surviving her, great-grandchildren William Johnson, Michaela Johnson, Cole Siegel, Luke Siegel, Oliver Reil, Barbara Bronson, Graven Bronson, Raphael Haberman , Margot Haberman and special friends Lucy Siegel and Rev. Mary White., several nieces, nephews and other family and friends to numerous to mention. All of whom brought tremendous joy to her heart. A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Friday August 3, 2018 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Located at 10 N. Main St, Albany at the corner of Madison Avenue.
