ALBANY - Aida Ramona Ramos 78, of Albany, was called home to be with the Lord on the evening of Tuesday, May 14 2013 surrounded by her family. Born in Puerto Rico on April 10, 1935, Aida was the daughter of the late Candido and Trinidad Echandy.
Aida came to the Capital District from Puerto Rico in 1952 where she lived for several years, then moved downstate then back to the Capital District where she remained until her death.
Aida is survived by her 5 Children: Margarita Ramos, Alexander Ramos, Aida C. Ramos, Alfredo Ramos (fiancée, Cindy Millett), Charlotte/Rosie Gaddy; Siblings Jose (Pricilla) Martinez, Crucita (Ruben) Arroyo, the late Rosa Sequinot, Dominga Borgo, Luis Echandy and Antonio Echandy; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to The Philoptochos and The Children of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany for the beautiful and thoughtful cards that were sent to brighter Aida's life, Pastor James D. Davis and Lurissa Lawson of Christian Memorial C.O.G.I.C., and also to all the staff members that took care of her at Evergreen Commons.
A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2013 at 9:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. Friends are invited and may call Monday May 20, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
