Aila M. Bell "Roni", 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011. She was born on May 7, 1922 in Zumbrota, Minnesota. She moved to Chicago to work as a lab technician. She married Allen Bell in 1946. They moved to the East Coast shortly thereafter and had their three daughters.
Roni is survived by her daughters; Virginia and her husband Vern, Carolyn and her husband John, and Amanda. She is also survived by her grandson, Ryan.
She's a published poet and wrote a children's book entitled "Coco, the City Kitty". She had a great love for life including her family, friends and animals. Roni was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who had a chance to know her. Roni's family is grateful for the gentle and compassionate care she received by her friend, Barb Wood, as well as other home health aides. The family would like to thank, Ellis Hospital and Baptist Nursing Home for giving quality and dignified care to Roni as her life came to a close.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to, Baptist Health, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 297 North Ballston Ave., Scotia, 12302 in Roni's memory.
