ALBANY – Alan P. Blanchette, 55, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 after a long courageous battle. He was born in Albany and lived there for most of his life. Alan was a 1975 graduate of Guilderland Center High School and the Orlo School of Hair Design and Cosmetology. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 through 1979. Alan enjoyed antiquing, decorating and visiting flea markets. He loved all animals, especially horses. Alan is the beloved son of Theodore "Al" and Jeanette Blanchette. He is the loving brother of Nancy (Bob) Bombard, Judith Trichilo, Denise (Jim) Heiserman, Regina (Mark) Burby and Timothy (Kathleen) Blanchette. Alan is the cherished uncle of Jamie (Angie), Annette (Carlos), Nicole (Juan), Tristan, Blake (Allison), Antoinette (David), Gretchen (Mark), Tyler, Brittany, Jesse (Casidhe), Shelby, Christopher and Rebecka (John). Also surviving are ten great-nieces and nephews. Alan was anxiously awaiting the arrival of four more great nieces and nephews. Alan will also be missed by his faithful canine companion and best friend, "Sally".
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary), Albany. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albany Damien Center or Paws NY Capital Region, 12 South Lake Ave., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Alan P. Blanchette
