Alan C. Garrison

Alan C. Garrison, 69, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2024, with his wife by his side.

Alan was a graduate from Colonie Central High School in 1974. He was employed as a Heavy Machine Operator until his retirement by R. J. Valente, Troy, and John T. Garry Inc., Colonie. Alan was a member of the Wadsworth Masonic Lodge and a Cyprus Shriner. He devoted many years, volunteering to drive local children in need to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield and Boston, Massachusetts. He loved fishing, hunting, was an extremely skilled wood worker, and enjoyed the art of landscaping. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, selflessness and his ability to light up a room.

Alan was the son of the late William D. and Florence M. (Conaway) Garrison Sr., and the son-in-law of the late Robert D. Leitch Jr. and Laura L. Leitch Risti. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, William (Pamela) Garrison Jr., and Kenneth (Diane) Garrison.

Alan leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Laura R. Garrison (Leitch), to whom he was happily married to for 44 years; sister, Dona (Paul) Terpening; brother-in-law, John (Kimberly) Leitch; sister-in-law, Lynn (Donald) Weaver; brother-in-law, Robert (Sheridawn) Leitch; sister-in-law, Leann (Josh) Bond; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Masonic Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service by Pastor Matthew Yamin. Interment to follow the services at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.

Memorial contributions can be made in Alan’s name to the “Shriners Children’s Boston”, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.

The Family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Masonic Brothers and Shriners that befriended Alan throughout the years. Also a thanks for the kindness and compassion his healthcare providers Dr. David, Dr. Schumacher, Dr. Delago and the Latham Fresenius Dialysis team, had shown over the years, especially Rich, Dorsey, Ellie and Kareen.
