Alan S. Morton

East Berne- Alan S. Morton, 72, formerly of Centerport, L.I., passed away at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Massachusetts, he was the son of Elliot and Anna Morton. Mr. Morton was employed as a Quality Engineer for various companies, retiring from Porta Systems, a fiber optics manufacturer on Long Island. Alan was a longtime member of the American Society of Quality Engineers. He was a Master Mason of the Jeptha Lodge in Huntington, NY.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Daila (Dee) Morton, his son Duane (Chip) Morton, daughter Dawn San Filippo, and three step children, Aida Mezzanotte, Peter Zilgme and Arnis Zilgme. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and many other cherished relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 AM for a prayer service before proceeding to Memory's Garden.
