GUILDERLAND, NY – Albert A. Cyr, Sr., 86, passed away at home on Saturday, January 23, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Caribou, ME, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Cyr. Mr. Cyr was a Guilderland resident for 50 years. He was a Merchant Marine, serving during World War II. Albert worked for many years with Union Local #157 in Schenectady. He was a member of the Moose Club in Canajoharie and the American Legion Post #1493. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Albert was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth D. Cyr. He is the devoted father of Harold Cyr, Roseann (Elmer) Potter, Albert Cyr, Jr., Thomas Cyr, Patricia (Clarence) Sawyer and the late Richard, Joseph and John Cyr and Bernard Cook. He is the brother of Donald Cyr and was predeceased by many brothers and sisters. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and his brother-in-law, John (Lorraine) Cook.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
