Guilderland- Albert John Dwyer, 100, passed away on May 16th 2023. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Anthony and Pauline Dwyer.
Albert was a graduate of Vincentian Institute in Albany. He served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer assigned to the Pacific from 1941 to 1947 before his honorable discharge. He retired from Price Chopper as a store manager. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Turnpike Rod and Gun Club and Helderberg Bassmasters. He loved spending time with his family as well as playing poker, gardening and baking.
Albert is predeceased by his loving wife Virginia as well as their son Albert Dwyer Jr. In addition he is also predeceased by his sister, Sister Margaret Dwyer (RSM) and his grandson Tony Cervoni.
Albert is survived by his son Robert A. Dwyer (Rosemarie) and his daughter Pamela M. Cervoni (Dominic) and daughter in law Linda Dwyer. He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, his sister Janet Fisch and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, NY 12205. A mass will be held Wednesday at 10am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave in Guilderland. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
