GUILDERLAND, NY – Albert E. Caswell, Jr., 82, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Mabel Caswell. Al was formerly of Troy, before moving to Schenectady. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country in both World War II and the Korean War. Al retired from the North Colonie School District with over twenty years of service. He was a member of both the Troy Tibbitts Cadets and the Jewish Community Center in Schenectady. He also did volunteer work at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and was very active in the New York State National Guard. Al now joins his beloved wife, Betty who passed away in April of 2006. He is the devoted father of Dennis Caswell, Patti (George) Anderson and Thomas (Amy) Caswell, Sr. Al is the cherished grandfather of Ronald A. Anderson III, Colleen Bowers, Crystal Hall and Thomas Caswell Jr. He is the adoring great-grandfather of Darshan Williams and Savannah Bowers. Also surviving is his loving daughter-in-law Coreen Hall. Al was very dedicated to his cats, Rusty Dusty, Tom Tom, Wendy and Taffy. Al's family would like to extend a special thanks to John Hall who assisted and cared for Al during his illness.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady County SPCA, P.O. Box 9516, Niskayuna, NY 12309 in memory of Albert E. Caswell, Jr.
