COLONIE - Albert H. Bleichert, Sr., 67, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Albert was born on April 23, 1943 in Albany and was the son of the late Robert P. and Charlene (Meyers) Bleichert, Sr. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He was a corrections officer for Albany County Correctional Facility for 28 years, before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Theresa C. (Rhodes) Bleichert; his loving children, Michael A. (Magda) Bleichert, Kimberly L. Bleichert, Dawn M. Bleichert, and Albert H. Bleichert, Jr.; his grandchildren, Kenyon Franklin and Bridgette and Nadia Bleichert; his brothers, Robert P. (Mary Ann) Bleichert, Jr., David Bleichert, Lawrence Bleichert, and Paul (Lisa) Bleichert; his sisters, Barbara (John) Foley, Mary Hotaling, Linda (Paul) McGrail, Patricia (Dennis) Kirkpatrick, and Susan Bleichert; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Greene and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Entombment will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
