GUILDERLAND- Albert "Al" Hecker, 67,lost his long battle with Cancer, but not without a fight, on September 26th of 2018. Born in Queens, NY on August 3, 1951, he was the only son of the late Louise (Krause) and Albert Hecker.
Al was a Graduate of SUNY Delhi, before starting his career as a Restaurant Entrepreneur. He owned his first restaurant, Oneonta Fish Market, for 15 years, while he also owned two other Restaurants, The Captains Table in Oneonta, NY and Captain Al's in Cooperstown, NY. Later in life, Al utilized his vast experience running seafood restaurants to transition into the Seafood Industry. He spent nearly two decades bringing Fresh Seafood to the Capital District, by creating Seafood Divisions for many Wholesale Food Distributors. Al genuinely enjoyed providing high quality and unique seafood to people. His motto was, "If it swims, I can get it"
Al's favorite hobby's in life were traveling, being by the ocean, boating, gardening, and enjoying the finer things, including gourmet food.
Al was quoted saying, "Sometimes you make your own luck, and sometimes luck finds you." Either way, he was lucky in love. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Denise Hecker, his loving children Albert and his wife (Molly) Hecker, Dr. Louise Hecker, Brittany and Kyle Birnbach, his Granddaughters, Ayla and Shay Hecker and Mother-in-law Agnes Gagnon.
