Albert G. Hill, 78, of Scotia-Glenville, NY, passed away peacefully on July 20th, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous fight.
Albert, a quiet and gentle soul, was born on February 17th, 1945, in Scotia-Glenville, NY, to the late Harold and Leona Hill. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he achieved the rank of sergeant. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the Scotia-Glenville School District, where he made a positive impact on many.
In his free time, Albert enjoyed various hobbies, including fishing, radio-controlled planes, racing, and passionately supporting both the New York Yankees and Giants. He also cherished spending time on the Mohawk River with his wife and family, finding solace in the peacefulness of nature and the Adirondacks throughout his entire life. Albert will be remembered by loved ones as a talented craftsman, artist, and musician, who excelled at new things. He was an honorable and decent man who carried himself with integrity. While he did not always say a lot, he spoke with kindness, wisdom, and the sort of wit that snuck up on you from time to time. He was a friend to neighbors and chipmunks alike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin, brother Bunker, and granddaughter Brittani.
Albert's memory will be cherished by his surviving family members, including his beloved wife, Rebecca; his children Daniel (Kristina) and Wendi; his siblings Lee (Brenda), James (Barbara), and Cheryl; his grandsons Ray (Kailey) and Jon (Abby); his great-granddaughter Ireland; his nieces and nephews Debbie, Chuck, Elaine, Christina, Shannon, and Alicia; and many other cherished relatives including Nathan, Elise (Pat), and Brad. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his sister-in-law, Susan, for her tireless efforts throughout his treatment.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services, held July 27th, 2023, at New Comer Cremation & Funerals in Colonie with a visitation at 2pm and a brief service including military funeral honors at 3pm. There will be a small gathering at the family home immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Schoharie Valley Cropdusters RC Club and the Eddy Visiting Nurse and Rehab Association.
Albert will be deeply missed and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
