SCOTIA – Albert R. (Bud) Smith, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Albert R. and Alice Enos Smith, Sr. Bud worked as head toolkeeper at General Electric for 34 years before retiring in 1975. He was very active in the Credit Union movement and was an officer in the MAC Credit Union. He was a member of the MAC Golf League for over 45 years. He was an avid camper and fisherman and enjoyed hiking, swimming, bowling and cross-county skiing. He loved taking trips with family and friends and played golf at over 100 courses in the US and had 3 holes in one.
Bud is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife, Charlotte A. Jeane Smith, she passed away on August 31, 2005. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 19, 2006. He was also predeceased by a son, Michael Smith, brothers, Ormand and John Smith and a sister Virginia Barr.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Rubin Dialysis Center, Clifton Park, for the warm and personal care that was given to dad.
Bud is survived by his loving children, sons, Charles Smith (Caryl) and James Smith (Dale); daughter, Diane Krawiecki (Edward F.); and daughter-in-law, Carol Smith. He is the grandfather of Todd Smith (Kristen), Lisa DeLorenzo (Matt), Tim, Michael, Peter, Sean and Amy Smith, Brian Krawiecki (Michelle) and Kevin Krawiecki; and great grandfather of Kramer and Abigail Smith and Sarah and Drew DeLorenzo and Marcus Smith. Bud is also survived by brothers, Gerald and William Smith and a sister, Margaret DeForest.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rubin Dialysis Center 21 The Crossing, Suite B, Clifton Park, NY 12065 in memory of Albert R. (Bud) Smith.
